Job Description
- The General Manager – Logistics is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s logistics operations to Africa, ensuring efficient and effective transportation, storage, and distribution of goods.
- This role requires strategic planning, strong leadership, and the ability to optimize processes to meet company goals and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and efficiency enhancement.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements related to logistics and transportation (Which includes Ports, Customs, Ministries, IDEC, DG Goods etc).
- Clearance at ports with ZERO Penalties & Demurrage.
- All logistics agreement to be done with Direct shipping line and CHA’s should be used only for consignment booking purpose.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
- Insurance claims to be taken wherever requires.
- Obtaining timely FORM M, PAAR, IDEC, Marine Insurance, GIT etc
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Vendor and Supplier Management & New Vendor Development:
- Establish and maintain relationships with transportation providers, warehouse operators, and other logistics partners.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
- New CHA’s and shipping lines to be introduced.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics / BS / CILT & NIPM.
Salary
N300,000 – N500,000 monthly
