Job Title: Health, Safety & Environment Officer

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • Compile safety programmes.
  • Practice safe working techniques.
  • Implement and maintain health and safety standards.
  • Establish a cordial and professional relationship with employees.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to share best practices and techniques.
  • Standardise health and safety in order to remain consistent.
  • Identify hazardous waste and dispose of it correctly.
  • Promote safety initiatives.
  • Compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance.
  • Document staff information, minutes of meetings, and reports compiled for management.
  • Regularly inspect equipment.
  • Inspect workplace environments, activities, and conditions to verify compliance with federal laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Suspend activities or the use of dangerous materials until alternative solutions have been developed, tested, and implemented.
  • Run audits on ventilation, noise protection, lighting, and exhaust equipment to ensure that all are functioning properly and working efficiently to create optimal safety for employees.
  • Investigate accidents to identify root problems, eliminate existing dangers, and develop solutions that will reduce the risk of other accidents occurring.
  • Organize programmes for medical monitoring and employee safety, and conduct educational trainings to instruct all workers on proper workplace behaviour and activity.
  • Maintain a database of present materials that are hazardous or toxic to guarantee each is properly handled during use and disposed of later on.
  • Develop emergency preparedness plans and create employee resources to direct workers in potentially dangerous situations.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent (HND).
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in construction industry is preferable
  • Valid competency certificates.
  • Registration as a Health and Safety Officer.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Salary
N200,000 monthly
