Job Title: Technical Design Manager

Job Summary

  • The Technical Design Manager will oversee the full Design, Fabrication and Integration process for armored vehicles and Resource Management – (budgets, tools, processes, and project support): Implements resource management strategy.
  • Manages engineering resources for multi discipline teams.
  • He will evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, mechatronics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • To oversee the full Design and creation of engineering fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials, installation drawings, third party manufacturing drawings, vehicle structural layout drawings, 3D models, to support development, execution, and completion of projects.
  • Generation of cut patterns and CNC codes for sheet metal cutting process using CAM Works and FastCAM software respectively.
  • To support the growth of the companies armoured vehicle portfolio, working with members of the Senior Management Team and contribute to the strategic direction of the business.
  • To represent the company in technical presentations, bids and negotiations with clients and suppliers.
  • Effective leadership and management of Design and Mechanical Engineers to achieve agreed engineering goals.
  • To contribute solutions to engineering issues and problems requiring significant judgement and technical expertise, along with providing related guidance and direction to others.
  • Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analyzes problems and methods, coordinating multiple discipline activity.
  • Typically supports multiple projects on complex technical challenges.
  • To provide technical advice and work with those involved in the preparation of bids.
  • To support and promote our engineering capability in the marketplace with both existing and new clients assisting with business development.
  • To develop effective engineering processes and standards and support the need to meet statutory and industry requirements.
  • Any other function as may be assigned by the Head of Operations or GMD

Qualifications / Experience

  • First Bachelor’s Degree / HND Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • A Master’s degree or an MBA will be added advantage
  • Proficient in the use of Solid Works, AutoCAD with relevant certifications
  • Minimum of 5years hands on experience in an automobileindustry with expertise in Technical Design
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.

Technical:
Broad and extensive knowledge of:

  • Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
  • Armored Vehicle Design, Fabrication and Integration
  • Engineering administration
  • Practices, processes, and expectations with respect to project engineering
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Knowledge of client design requirements across multiple industry sectors
  • Prepare contingency plans for the unexpected (pro-active, forward-looking.

Non-Technical:

  • Proven ability to build and manage a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Discipline, integrity and result oriented
  • Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower employees to achieve desired objectives.
  • Strong organizational, people management, and technical skills

Salary
N300,000 – N400,000 Monthly.
