Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company’s financial performance and trends.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals, to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
- Monitor and analyze variances between actual financial results and budgeted/planned figures, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants during annual audits and tax filings, providing necessary documentation and support to facilitate the audit process.
- Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections, collaborating with department heads and management to align financial goals with strategic objectives.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting.
- Flexibility to work on location in Victoria Island and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications
- HND / BSc Degree holder in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with demonstrated proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliation.
- Professional certification such as ICAN is a plus, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards, with the ability to apply them effectively in a corporate setting.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with experience using ERP systems for financial management and reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to management.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and mentoring staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
- Commitment to upholding high ethical standards and integrity in financial reporting and business conduct.
