Job Title: Security & Safety Manager

Job Summary
- The Security & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing daily security management of all DRYVA premises (including project and operational) sites, ensuring a permanent monitoring and assessment of the security situation in country, as well as reviewing and implementing DRYVA security management guidelines and protocols.
- This role is responsible for implementing a risk based security management system to drive the security strategy/architecture of DRYVA Logistics across the country.
- He/she will also advise the Country Leadership and Senior Management Team on all issues of safety and security and provide appropriate security training and mentoring.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for people, property and assets protection (this includes trucks and warehouses).
- Design and implement robust rescue operations SOP, system, and security network.
- Provide security and risk mitigation and ensure that shipments arrive at their destination safely and timely.
- Identify and report potential security vulnerabilities of all transport operations
- Conduct SSAVA (Site Security And Vulnerability Assessment) to ensuring security and safety across all warehouses and office.
- Conduct SRVA (Spot Risk And Vulnerability Assessment) with a view to ensuring safety.
- Oversee and monitor local security context to pro-actively identify security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks and ensure commensurate treatment options are in place; providing timely and accurate reporting, coordinating site and transit security incident response mechanisms and risk mitigation procedures.
- Respond to and investigate complaints from delays of truckers/drivers on transit
- Give frequent reports on delayed shipments by recording observations, information and also conducting surveillance and reference checks activities
- Ensure the organization complies with all transportation and warehousing legal requirements.
- Conduct security-related training programs across the organization and disseminate security information from time to time.
- Assists in carrying out Safety and Health compliance checks on trucks / truckers before they are recruited to fleet.
- Assists in investigating accidents or breakdowns that occur on the road
- Liaise with Law enforcement agencies on matters of threat to life and property in other to ensure conformity
- Work together with Tracking/ Telematics officer and Field Officers to ensure all shipments are well tracked and followed up from the point of pick up to the point of delivery
- Ensure proper management of drivers in transit by giving safety route planning advice.
- Assists in the preparation of various Security reports, documents, and forms as required from time to time
- Work closely with legal to ensure all logistics activities remain compliant
- Development and delivery of an effective Business Continuity & Resilience Framework ensuring all Crisis Management and Emergency Response Plans and associated procedures are updated and tested on a regular basis.
- Perform detailed investigations of security incidents and concerns delivering comprehensive case files for internal and/ or external disciplinary and/ or legal action and further supporting the Country Manager in the investigation of severe security incidents impacting DRYVA Logistics employees, assets, operations, or reputation.
- Maintain a thorough awareness of national and local security standards and legislation, company security policies and procedures and keep up to date with community security issues.
- Ensure that security policy, plans and procedures are implemented, updated, revised, and where necessary tested on a regular basis.
- Assist Fleet / Transport & warehouse Managers to record and monitor emergency actions and checklists.
- Travel Security and journey management – Design improved journey management plan
- Security design and assessment
- CCTV / Access Control implementation and management
- Emergency Management
- Supply Chain Security across all logistics functions – warehousing, transportation, cross border shipments.
- Background Checks
- Manage DRYVA employee travel risks and Journey Management Programme in country (country team/visitors)
- Advise Managing Director and colleagues on all Security Risks Management aspects.
- Acts as Country level Crisis Management Coordinator to Country Crisis Management Team
- Manages day-to-day supervisory activities for all internal and outsourced security staff. Conduct security related training of staff and maintain associated records
- Responsible for monitoring both routine and emergency staff communication channels and systems
Fleet Tracking:
- Create and operate a tracking system in order to monitor trucks allocated for shipment
- Flag and follow up on trucks that spend more than acceptable time in transit due to repairs
- Identify and report any illegal /suspicious activities and truck diversion
- Give a detailed report of the trucks in transit – location and time – from the tracking system.
- Give clear and detailed tracking reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Follow up on drivers to identify any issues that call for immediate resolution.
- Ensure tracking devices installed on trucks are in good working conditions and liaise with tracking installation engineers to rectify non-reporting devices.
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
- HND / B.Sc. in Security Management or other related fields.
- Relevant professional Security Management/Risk Management accredited qualification/ certification, e.g. CSMP, CPP or similar
- Cognate 3 – 7 years of related work experience
- Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian transport legislation.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Health & Safety and OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor Certificate, plus other relevant international certification will be added advantage
- Prior relevant experience having served with public law enforcement and/ or intelligence service an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills. The ability to speak multiple Nigerian languages is a plus
- Excellent organization skills.
Salary
N250,000 – N400,000 Monthly.
