IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a Public Relations Associate to support its strategic communications initiatives. The PR Associate will collaborate with the PR & Communications Manager to increase our brands’ awareness through the press, and drive internal efforts that inform and engage IXL Learning’s teams. #LI-DE1
This unique role will work with some of the largest brands in educational technology, including Rosetta Stone, Dictionary.com, and IXL, to shape the discussion about what the future of education will look like. #LI-REMOTE
The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of media relations, a knack for tying brands to current events and trends, an ability to work cross-functionally, and a track record as a captivating storyteller. You must be skilled in written and verbal communications, creative, and have an appreciation for the profound impact education can have on people’s lives.
This is a full-time remote position for candidates in the United States.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Public Relations
- Play a leading role in creating and implementing IXL Learning’s media relations strategy
- Generate news coverage across IXL Learning’s brands, including the world-renowned Rosetta Stone, the IXL platform, Dictionary.com, Vocabulary.com, and Wyzant
- Grow IXL Learning’s presence in technology, general consumer, and education news outlets; identify new opportunities to inject IXL Learning’s brands into news cycles
- Help develop and maintain media relationships with influential education trade, technology, and consumer outlets
- Write press releases, pitches, statements, and Q&A docs
- Identify thought leadership opportunities; help research and brainstorm ideas for content
- Evaluate award opportunities and draft nominations
- Monitor and report coverage
- Bring creative thinking to the team, with a focus on identifying new ways to tell IXL Learning’s story and engage with target audiences at the intersection of technology and education
Internal Marketing and Communications
- Inform, inspire, and engage colleagues through a variety of internal marketing and communications projects
- Help prepare company- and team-wide presentations
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 3-6 years of experience in PR or journalism, with a track record of establishing networks of relationships with journalists
- PR agency experience is preferred, but not required
- An always-on media mindset, including a history of planning and carrying out proactive campaigns that resulted in positive media coverage
- An ability to fluidly navigate between strategy and the execution of tactics
- A dedicated self-starter and critical thinker
- An excellent storyteller with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines while working with accuracy
- Someone with an interest in education and technology, and can learn about the intersection of the industries quickly
- Experience with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
