Role Overview

  • As a Facility Maintenance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities.
  • From conducting repairs and coordinating vendor services to overseeing facility improvements, your expertise will contribute to the overall efficiency and functionality of our stores.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and operational issues.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building repairs, to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to schedule and oversee repairs, maintenance services, and installations, ensuring quality workmanship and timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, service contracts, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, prioritizing tasks and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance activities, such as equipment inspections, lubrication, and calibration, to extend the lifespan of facilities and equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for facility improvements and cost-saving initiatives, including energy efficiency upgrades and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including operations, safety, and procurement, to address facility-related needs and support business objectives.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Flexibility to move around the stores as needed to assess maintenance needs and oversee repair activities.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • HND / BSc Degree holder in Engineering, Facility Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, with expertise in conducting repairs and coordinating vendor services.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance practices, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms for services and materials.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose issues, develop solutions, and implement effective repairs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and best practices in facility management and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness in facilities and work areas.
