Job Title: Financial Controller

Job Summary

  • The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports, and providing strategic financial insights.
  • This role involves overseeing accounting practices, preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:

  • Oversee all financial and accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Manage the preparation of the company’s budget and forecasts.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Manage and coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Strategic Planning:

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Work with senior management to develop financial strategies.
  • Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor the finance team.
  • Set performance goals and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the team.

Financial Systems:

  • Oversee and manage the implementation and maintenance of financial systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Present financial reports to senior management, stakeholders, and the board of directors.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Performance Goals
Financial Reporting Accuracy:

  • KPI: Percentage of financial reports submitted on time without errors.
  • Target: 100% on-time submission; <1% error rate.

Budget Management:

  • KPI: Variance between actual and budgeted financial performance.
  • Target: Maintain variance within 5%.

Audit Findings:

  • KPI: Number of significant audit findings.
  • Target: Zero significant findings.

Compliance:

  • KPI: Compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Target: 100% compliance.

Financial Systems Efficiency:

  • KPI: System downtime and data accuracy.
  • Target: Less than 1% downtime; 100% data accuracy.

Team Performance:

  • KPI: Employee performance and satisfaction ratings within the finance team.
  • Target: Average performance rating of 4 out of 5; satisfaction rating of 80% or higher.

Cost Control:

  • KPI: Achievement of cost-saving targets.
  • Target: Meet or exceed annual cost-saving targets.

Cash Flow Management:

  • KPI: Accuracy of cash flow forecasts.
  • Target: Forecast accuracy within 95%.

Debt Management:

  • KPI: Debt-to-equity ratio.
  • Target: Maintain a ratio within the industry standard or company’s goal.

Strategic Contributions:

  • KPI: Implementation of strategic financial initiatives.
  • Target: Successful implementation of 90% of planned initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Experience: 7 – 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills.
  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • High level of integrity and dependability.
