Job Summary
- The Restaurant Purchasing Officer/Store Keeper is responsible for managing the procurement of food, beverages, and supplies, ensuring that the restaurant acquires high-quality items at competitive prices. This role also oversees the proper storage and inventory management of these items to support the restaurant’s operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for food, beverages, and other restaurant supplies.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, prices, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for supplies and ingredients.
- Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options to ensure the best deals.
- Monitor market trends and conditions to determine the best timing for purchasing decisions.
- Seek ways to reduce procurement costs through negotiation, bulk buying, or alternative suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, inventory levels, and supplier contracts.
- Oversee the receipt, storage, and issuance of food, beverages, and supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock counts to prevent discrepancies.
- Ensure that all perishable items are stored correctly and used within their shelf life.
- Ensure stock levels are maintained to meet operational needs without overstocking.
- Implement efficient stock control measures to minimize waste and obsolescence, particularly for perishable items.
- Organize and maintain the storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers, for easy access and efficient workflow.
- Ensure proper labeling and categorization of items for quick identification and retrieval.
- Enforce food safety regulations and protocols to prevent contamination and spoilage.
- Implement security measures to safeguard inventory against theft, damage, or loss.
- Work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure that the required ingredients and supplies are available and delivered on time.
- Assist in planning and forecasting the restaurant’s supply needs based on menu requirements and anticipated demand.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
- Proven experience in procurement and inventory management within the hospitality industry, particularly in a restaurant setting.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
Personal Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Salary
NGN100,000 / month.
