Job Description

  • A boiler operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of boilers and related equipment to generate steam or hot water for heating, processing, or power generation purposes. They play a critical role in ensuring the continuous operation of boiler systems in Plant for ENA Operations & Bottling Plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Boiler Operation: Monitor and control boiler systems to maintain proper steam pressure, temperature, and water levels. Start up, shut down, and adjust boiler operations as needed to meet demand and ensure optimal performance.
  • Safety Procedures: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and equipment damage. Conduct routine safety checks, perform equipment inspections, and implement safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Water Treatment: Monitor water chemistry and treatment processes to prevent corrosion, scale buildup, and other issues that can affect boiler efficiency and reliability. Test water samples, adjust chemical dosages, and maintain proper water chemistry levels.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance tasks on boilers and associated equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, diagnose issues, and implement repairs to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of boiler operations, including logs of pressure, temperature, fuel consumption, and water treatment activities. Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and any unusual occurrences for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Efficiency Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve boiler efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and minimize operating costs. Implement energy-saving measures, optimize combustion processes, and recommend equipment upgrades or modifications as needed.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to boiler alarms, malfunctions, or emergencies. Take appropriate corrective actions, follow emergency procedures, and notify supervisors or maintenance personnel as necessary to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and standards governing boiler operations, emissions, and environmental protection. Stay informed about regulatory changes and updates to ensure ongoing compliance with industry requirements.
  • Training and Development: Stay current with advances in boiler technology, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements through ongoing training and professional development activities. Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues and assist in training new boiler operators as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and plant operators to coordinate activities, share information, and troubleshoot complex issues. Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve operational goals and objectives.

Key Competencies:

  • Preventive Maintenance on Boilers & Associated Equipment’s.
  • Proven experience operating and maintaining boilers.
  • Strong understanding of boiler systems, combustion processes, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of water treatment principles and practices.
  • Efficiency Tracking for Boiler & Associated Equipment’s.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures, emergency protocols, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Basic Qualification: 1. HND/OND in Mechanical with Higher Grade.
  • Working as Boiler Operator more than 10 Yrs in any Process industry.
  • Working with Higher Boiler capacity (more than 10 TPH) is added advantage.
  • Boiler operator license or certification as per Local regulations & requirements.
  • Work experience as Permanent Employee only – Not Contract/3rd party engagement.
  • Age not more than 45 Yrs.
  • Able to speak / Understand & Good Communication skill.

Salary
N150,000 – N300,000 per month.
